Ski touring in Switzerland

10 June 2023

The weather being the strongest, what was supposed to be a Chamonix Zermatt crossing – the Haute Route – turned into an adaptation exercise, actually not too unsuccessful, between France, Switzerland and Italy.

It must be said that with precipitation, extreme wind, fog and avalanche risk, wanting to maintain a route and a plan is just impossible, and even very dangerous. Knowing how to adapt is imperative. So we took advantage of Nature as it offered itself and in the middle of a week when sunscreen came out little, a magnificent day was interspersed.

Leaving Verbier and the Cabane Mont Fort where the evening fondue will have revived us, we go up to the superb refuge – cabin in Switzerland…- Marcel Brunet, under the snow… to better find a crazy powder the next day at Mont Rogneux, an absolutely crazy 360-degree point of view.

Looking for the best route, we make our trail in the middle of immaculate snow. The idea being to make a loop, we then enjoy a perfect powder snow both on the climb and throughout a dream descent.

Determined to live the adventure with our bodies, we will go to Italy and another refuge – the Rifugio Bonatti – another colorful place…

I would like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart: Agathe, Victor, Manu, Julien and Thimotée.

Thank you also to brother Greg for being there and for taking on the role of professional photographer!
